Our natural materials

Seagrass

Seagrass is a flowering plant native to Vietnam where an abundance of rivers and lakes gather. This plant grows partially submerged in bodies of water and have been cultivated by Vietnamese for centuries. They are used in crafting household items and even furniture. Seagrass is known for its flexibility and durability when dried making them the perfect material for Vietnamese weavers.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a tall grass of great cultural and economic importance to Vietnamese. They are favored for their durability and flexibility while used for furniture or home household items. Bamboo farming is sustainable due to their fast growth and survivability in most conditions.

Rattan

Rattan has been traditionally used for wickerwork household items. It is found mostly in the wild making the resources of rattan scarce. Their value comes in how exquisite the products made from the material are with its high durability.

Jute

Jute is the vegetable fiber produced from the flowering plants of the genus Corchorus. It is very easy to make and readily found throughout the countryside of Vietnam. Products woven with this material attain a softer texture as compared to other natural materials. Vietnamese artisans have been utilizing this material for generations, especially in simple footwear items.

MOP

Mother of Pearl products are made from recycled materials carved with thrown-away seashells. These require considerable experience with a strenuous and meticulous production process. Stemming from the long tradition of Vietnam, each is a masterpiece in its own right.
